So this isn’t as much a Design Detail as the overall design style itself, but yesterday !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Of course, this reminded me of a Jalopnik article long ago (a QOTD, actually) where they asked us to show them the most striking automotive doppelgänger. These are cars which, although from different manufactures, have a close similarity in appearance, whether intentional or not. The most obvious that comes to mind would be Pininfarina’s work with Lancia, Peugeot, and Austin back in the ‘60s.
Lancia Flaminia
Peugeot 404
Austin A110 Westminster
Definitely a bit of laziness on Pinin’s part there. So what do you think, Oppo?

Wow! This Subaru also looks awfully familiar. Who would have thought?

Those bunch of weirdos with no radiator and the engine in the wrong end.

Wow! It's almost like they were designed by the same person! :-O

I remember seeing a Volvo 144 once and being REALLY excited because I thought it was a Lada. Most disappointed I’d ever been seeing a classic Vo’.

Design for both was mostly done by Erwin Komenda. So yes. Same person.

Haha, it would probably be the other way around for me ;)
Also, there’s another car that seems rather similar to that Lada...

Pininfarina could be such a bunch of lazy bastards sometimes. They did the same thing with the Peugeot 605 and Alfa 164.

Wow! I had never noticed that before, thanks for the revelation!
